The first day saw very heavy rainfall while we were on Semaphore Hill. On returning to the Canopy Tower, the rain eased, and some 500 Mississippi Kites and a single Swainson's Hawk flew past at tree top level, or rose up on thermals. These were soon followed by a larger number of Cliff Swallows feeding on insects around the tower. During the week there was noticeable movement of Eastern Kingbirds with some flocks of up to 50 individuals.
