Some 20 - 30 Whooper Swans spend the winter in the Tregaron area each year after migrating down from Scandinavia and Northern Europe/Russia where they breed. During the winter, they feed in the fields around Tregaron. The last three days of December 2000 saw some 8 inches of snow, which forced the swans to feed in the waters on Tregaron bog. The photo below shows three swans taking off.
